Statistics methodology

Where the numbers come from, what they cover, and when we refuse to show them.

Source of data

All game data comes from the official Brawl Stars API: player profiles, battle logs, club rosters, event rotation, the Brawler catalogue and the global, country and Brawler leaderboards. BrawlCity stores what the API returns; it never scrapes other websites and never imports another tracker's statistics.

Battle logs are public but limited — the API returns only a player's recent battles, so our coverage of a map or Brawler grows as we record more matches from more players.

Observation windows

Map and Brawler meta is computed over a rolling window of the last 28 UTC days (today plus the previous 27). Player reports use up to 90 days, for every member. Every page that shows a statistic also states the window it used and the number of battles behind it.

Ranking rule and minimum sample

Brawlers are ranked by their raw win rate — wins divided by decided matches — highest first, with ties broken by Brawler ID. There is no confidence adjustment and no popularity weighting.

A Brawler only appears in a ranking once we have recorded at least 5 known win/loss results in the exact view shown (that map, that mode, or overall) within the 28-day window, and at least one decided result. Rows below that are marked "still collecting" — we do not estimate, smooth or extrapolate them.

Win rate is computed on decided battles only. Draws and battles whose result the API did not report are excluded from the denominator and reported separately.

Deduplication

The same battle appears in the log of every participant we track. Battles are deduplicated by their timestamp, mode, map and participant set, so a match recorded from ten perspectives is counted once — while each player's own perspective still feeds their personal record.

Showdown results

Showdown has no win/loss flag, so placements are converted with a fixed rule:

  • Solo Showdown: rank 1–4 win, rank 5 draw, rank 6–10 loss.
  • Duo Showdown: rank 1–2 win, rank 3 draw, rank 4–5 loss.
  • Trio Showdown: rank 1 win, rank 2 draw, rank 3+ loss.

The Solo and Duo rules follow Supercell's own win-streak behaviour. Supercell has not published an equivalent rule for Trio, so the Trio line above is BrawlCity's stated convention, applied consistently everywhere.

How often data is refreshed

Players are grouped into sync pools and refreshed on a schedule rather than on demand. Default cadence: saved profiles every 10 minutes, global leaderboard players every 30 minutes, Brawler leaderboard players hourly, country leaderboard players every 2 hours, and other discovered players every 3 hours. Battle-log polling adapts: it speeds up while a player is active and slows down after repeated syncs with no new matches. A daily sweep revisits every known player, including dormant ones.

Statistical pages are recomputed when their underlying battles change — not simply because a scheduled job ran. The "last successful update" shown on a page is the timestamp of the data behind it.

What we do not show

The public API exposes no kill counts, damage figures, friend lists or hidden matchmaking values, so BrawlCity does not display them. Where a statistic is unavailable, the page says "unavailable" instead of showing a zero.
